Description

Effect: For decades people have been begging for, and have repeatedly asked me, “Where is the Charlie Miller book?”

Where indeed ? It’s been under your nose for 40 years, in the pages of “Magicana” where Charlie published an enormous amount of his own repertoire. Not just stuff he noodled together the night before, but full performance pieces from a half-century of being a professional magician. And if his trick wasn’t the lead item, there was often another trick or technique hidden in “Intermission,” the commentary part ofthe column. In all there are well over 150 tricks in this book.

I doubt you will find another book published in the last half-century that contains, in addition to its bountiful close-up magic, as much stand-up and parlor magic.

This book represents Charlie’s initial run as writer/editor from 1964 to 1978. In the mid- 1970s Charlie started working on cruise ships doing magic, and he became quite successful. Elizabeth Wilson, wife of Castle Board member and magician Ron Wilson, started ghostwriting for Charlie, eventually receiving the written credit for “Intermission” and finally for the entire column. Unfortunately, without Charlie, it was not the same, and “Magicana” stopped in 1978. Charlie was later lured back in the 1980s, but that’s another story for another book. Between the pages of this book you will find the first and best run of “Magicana” by Charlie, who liked to hear his name said thrice.
