Description
This is a very nice Walnut card box. It lies almost 100% flat, which is quite rare. The mechanism works well. The only criticism I have is you cannot place a deck with card case inside and close the box completely.
Effect: The “Card Box” is a gimmicked utility piece in magic with literally hundreds of uses. Torn and restored, diminishing card, money changing, are some of the many effects that can be accomplished with this wonderful prop. Here is a basic routine to get you started.
The performer removes a deck of cards from a very elegant handcrafted walnut card box, placing the box to one side of the table.
The spectator is asked to “freely” select a card from the pack and remember it. The card is returned to the pack and the deck is given to the spectator to shuffle. With the deck in the spectators hands, the performer asks the spectator to find his/her own card. The spectator is asked to place the deck face down on the table and with their thumb and pointer finger of their right hand, cut the deck anywhere they like and they will cut to their card.
The spectator cuts the deck and fails to find their card. They are asked to announce the name of the card. The performer states that it would be impossible for the spectator to find their card because it has vanished from the deck. The performer asks the spectator to check the card box. To everyone’s amazement, the spectator removes his/her card from the walnut card box.
Note: if by chance, (1 in 52) the spectator actually cuts to their card, just take a bow. It’s a miracle!
