This is an understated paddle trick by Willi, offered as a Special Edition with a custom case. What I appreciate most about Willi’s magic is his ability to take a simple concept and enhance it with subtleties, creating an even more astonishing effect.
In “Card Detector,” when you display both sides of the paddle, it genuinely appears as if you’re showing two distinct sides – one with the Ace of Diamonds and the other with the Ace of Spades. It’s all clever misdirection, but this setup improves the final disappearance of the two cards.
This effect can be fully examined, is easy to perform, boasts an instant reset, and thanks to the secure case, the paddle is always ready for your next performance.

Effect: A spectator chooses two playing cards from a deck of cards, which initially remain on the table. The performer shows a small device (the Card Detector) for detecting selected cards. On each side of the detector are 26 different playing cards. To avoid outside interference, the detector is held on a wooden board.
The detector is removed from the wooden board and the board (paddle) is shown empty on both sides. The detector is pushed back onto the board and moved over the selected playing cards. Suddenly, two playing cards disappear from one side.
It would take far too long to determine which playing cards are missing. But fortunately, the board is made of “special magnifying wood”. Slowly, the detector is removed. Two large cards can now be seen on the board.
Of course, when the two chosen cards are turned over on the table, they match exactly.
The detector, board and cards can be handed out for examination.
