Description
I’ve wanted to obtain one of Richard Himber’s Topper card boxes for many years and finally managed to track one down. It looks beautiful and the two effects that were released with it are perfect:
The key with this effect is the force has to be clean and so I created a special deck and added the torn corner to really sell the finale. I don’t think it gets much better than this.
It is easy to do and has a very quick reset. If you don’t want to tear the corner (which was not originally part of Richard’s effect) then the reset is even simpler, but I think it adds a lot with the torn corner.
Notice: there is a small chip of the chrome plating missing on the inside draw (see the last photo). This side is actually not really seen in the performance and has zero impact on the routine.
Effect: For years we have been begged, cajoled and even threatened to release this trick. We have finally succumbed because we at last found the man who makes the jewelry boxes for Tiffany’s’, the world’s greatest jewelry store. This man agreed to make fifty of the boxes as a favor to us, if we agreed never to ask him again.
Oh! What a luxurious box it is! Gleaming chrome, luscious black and red leather and 24-K hand tooled. You’ve seen the trick. A card is selected from a borrowed pack then placed in the box with the entire pack shuffled BY THE SPECTATOR. When box is opened the selected card falls out – THE ENTIRE DECK HAS VANISHED! YES – You can look in the lid and the box and see nothing, and the box is approximately the size of a deck of cards.
The box can be used for any kind of a switch or change – beads, cards, mental questions – but for us – we just love this trick so much that we use it as the climax of a close-up session.
