Description

This wonderful kids item was invented by Jimmy Fingers and released by Max Andrews under his Vampire Magic brand. It has a lot going for it with brightly colored wooden props, an interesting patter line, and some great magic where the piggies vanish even though they are apparently tied up for all to see and produced later from a sty that was clearly empty before.

This is the later improved model where both windows are on hinges and open individually which make for a more convincing show that the pigs are locked in place.

You don’t see kids magic like this anymore that is for sure: great props, a fun engaging story coupled with some strong magic 🙂

(Notice: this originally was issued with with two screws screwed into the back of the barn above the windows. Well this was never a good idea. When I received this item one of the screws had already been lost and the one remaining was barely in place, but had already left a small hole visible from the front. In addition, their location was designed for the first version of this product without the opening windows, and after that addition they were clearly in the wrong place which one use of the prop would have noticed. So I moved the location and replaced this screw with a plastic stem that does not penetrate the board, is more secure, better for the task, and is colored black so it blends in better if the backside is shown.)

Effect: It will be quite impossible for me to adequately describe this charming effect, for the apparatus is attractive, the magic so subtle that it can fool magicians, and the patter story written in the inimitable style of the inventor.

A pigsty is shown on the right of the stage, and the door opened to show Pink Piggies sitting inside. They are taken out and the door closed, and they are seen to have ribbons round their necks w ith rings on so that the Farmer can tie them up. However, on this morning he let them out to play in the yard. Whilst he was not looking, a bad man passing in a lorry, gave the piggies some carrots and then stole them away in a lorry. Later on he stopped outside a barn and took the two piggies over to it.

Then he took one piggie and put him inside, pushing his collar ring through the barn window. Having done the same with the second pig, he tied the rings together with rope. Then he puts out a big notice ‘ PIGS FOR SALE ‘. Meanwhile Farmer Giles had found that Porky and Rufus (these were their names) were missing, and looked everywhere for them. Next morning the bad man sold the two pigs, but when the customer went to the barn . . . PORKY AND RUFUS HAD ESCAPED ! When he pulled the rope, the rings came right thru without any pigs on them. He searched the barn inside and out (you show it both sides) but nothing there.

For Porky and Rufus had slipped away during the night and when the Farmer went to look in the Pigsty next morning, there they were inside . . . BUT WITHOUT THEIR RINGS AND RIBBONS !!
