Description
This effect was made by the English coin craftsman Eddie Gibson and sold by Mephisto (manufacturer and dealer from Belgium, now known as Mephisto-Huis), Hank Lee and others. It should not be confused with Eddie’s more famous bolt effect called Twist Off. The method appears to be basically the same as B.I.O.N. though I think the original B.I.O.N. effect is a little stronger with the padlock.
Two effects are included and I like the first effect with the Chinese coin removal. However, I don’t care for the second effect and the card penetration as it seems easier to deduce the method. Also in the first effect it mentions covering the bolt with a handkerchief (not included) but I don’t believe it is even necessary and it is much stronger without the handkerchief of course. Let’s hope the Speed Demo comes to the same conclusion 🙂
Effect: The Chinese coin is placed on the stem of the bolt and secured with the nut. The assembled coin and bolt is held in both hands by the fingertips. The hands and bolt are covered with a handkerchief and almost instantly the coin becomes released from the bolt and falls to the table. The handkerchief is immediately removed and the nut and bolt are seen to be intact and secure, a seemingly impossible penetration.
Effect 2: The bolt is pushed through the hole in the card and secured with the nut. The card is flicked and sent spinning on the bolt. The bolt is held in the right hand with the card in a horizontal position and only the head showing on top of the card.
The head of the bolt then appears to escape the hole restriction in the card and creates it’s own path around the card. The bolt and card are then turned over so that the stem of the bolt and the nut stick up through the card.
With the right hand holding the head of the bolt beneath the card, the nut and boll is pulled around the card – avoiding the central hole – and is then pulled completely away from the card for a perfect visual penetration.
